Think English Summer School 2022

FAQ

Are visas included?

No, visas are not included. Students and their families must arrange their own visas.

We can provide you with government advice on how to apply and what the visa includes. Visas are provided on a case-by-case basis.

We are not able to help you fill in the form but can merely offer advice and help you understand the form. We can translate any terms for you and explain what they mean.

What is the £350 parent fee?

This is a fee for administration costs and an acceptance letter.

What is the refund policy?

We will offer a refund if your visa has been rejected. You will not be refunded the £350 administration fee.

You will not receive a refund if you have paid and your visa has already been approved.

If my visa is rejected, am I able to reapply with the same fees I have already paid?

Yes, if you have already paid for the Summer School but your visa is rejected, we will let you enrol for the next dates.

Should the fees be paid in full before travelling?

Yes, the fees must be paid in full before you receive an acceptance letter.

If one parent is travelling with the child, must there be written permission from the other parent?

No, written permission from anyone other than a parent or guardian who is accompanying the child is not necessary.

Should I have booked my flights to support my visa application?

No, you should only book your flights once your visa has been approved.

Is accommodation included?

No, accommodation is not included in the Summer School. Students and their families must book their own accommodation for the duration of their attendance.

However, we have made a deal with a local 2* hotel for attendees to stay there for £495 per week. If you would like to stay at a different hotel, we can help guide you.

Should I book my hotel before travelling?

Legally, you will need to write the address of where you will be staying on your visa application. You will need to book your accommodation before you travel because you will need to have booked it before you apply for your visa.

There are plenty of affordable options which allow you to book in advance. Many hotels provide you with the choice to pay shortly before your stay or when you have arrived at the hotel.

We recommend that you make a refundable booking rather than a non-refundable booking.

Can I stay in the UK after the Summer School?

Yes, you are free to stay in the UK following your child’s time at the Summer School.

However, this is limited to how long your particular visa allows. For a visitor visa, this is generally 30 days following the end of the Summer School.

Do students have to attend every lesson?

Yes, students are expected to attend every lesson and activity.

Are meals included?

Lunch and snacks are included. An evening meal may be arranged if an afternoon activity finishes later than the usual school day.

How much pocket money should students have?

We recommend that students have between £20 and £30 a day but there is no official limit.

We do not advise that students bring cash because many venues in the area are cashless. We recommend that they are given a card with a set amount of money on it.

There are cards designed for children which can be controlled by their parents. For example, HyperJar is a prepaid debit card which parents can put money into and control from their smartphones.
